Paris – the refined rendering of the film in fashion

It is in a studio in natural light that we shot with Veronika Krajplova, model for the agency Crystal Models Paris.
Rare are the photographers who still shoot in silver film in the fashion world. Yet, the color rendering, the grain, this luminous and soft rendering. The film renders the flesh tones luminous, soft. Dark clothes shoot in blue, blacks are black and contrasted, while highlights take a warmer rendering. This right balance that makes the film’s rendering so magical, I studied it and educated my eye because it fascinated me. And today I’m one of those photographers who are called in the United States « Hybrid fashion Photographer ».

That is to say, we mix the best of both worlds. We make a few silver images that serve as a benchmark for our digital images. And we obtain a natural rendering and this mineral aspect, soft and contrasted at the same time.

In this portrait session, 80% of the images are digital and this allows you to understand how I use film rendering in my work as a fashion photographer.
